What are the causes of dark circles?
There can be many reasons behind dark circles under the eyes. However, some of the common reasons include the following. such as,
1. Fatigue
Oversleeping, being too tired or staying up late at night due to sleep problems can also cause dark circles.
Inadequate sleep causes the skin around the eyes to become weak and loose. Therefore, dark circles are formed due to the accumulation of blood vessels and dark tissues under the skin.
Lack of sleep also contributes to the formation of fluid under the eyes. Therefore, the skin under the eyes looks like a stretch. Hence dark circles appear many times. It is the shadow of your puffy eyelids.
2. Age
Aging can also be a common cause of dark circles under the eyes. As you age, your skin starts to sag.
Fats and colognes that tighten the skin are also reduced and eliminated. As this fat and cologne are depleted, the veins beneath the skin begin to darken in color. Due to this, the vein becomes visible under the loose skin and the skin around the eyes becomes darker in color.
3. Eye strain
Most of the time, eyes get tired due to watching too much TV or sitting too much in front of computer screen. This fatigue causes the nerves around the eyes to stretch. Due to this, the skin around the eyes starts to look dark.
4. Allergies
Dark circles are often caused by allergic reactions and dry eyes. The body's defense mechanisms release histamines to fight harmful bacteria.
Histamines cause the veins to dilate and darken. At the same time, they become more visible under the skin. Without allergies, the body can also activate histamines when the eyes become itchy, red, and swollen.
Allergies often lead to the temptation to scratch the skin around the eyes. This increases the discomfort and can also lead to nerve swelling and rupture. Due to this, dark circles can appear on all four sides of the eyes.
5. Dehydration
Dark circles under the eyes are also common due to lack of water in the body. If the body does not get enough water, the skin under the eyes becomes lifeless and looks dry. This is also because the bone below the eyes is close to the skin.
6. Sun overexposure
Staying in the sun for too long leads to the production of more melanin in the body. Melanin gives the skin its color. Staying in the sun for longer than necessary can darken the skin around the eyes.
7. Genetics
If someone in the family has the problem of dark circles, you may also experience it. Some people start showing symptoms at an early age. Many people find that the circles grow or shrink as they age.
8. Predispositions To Other Medical Conditions
Sometimes some diseases can also cause dark circles. Thyroid also causes dark circles around the eyes. This problem can also occur due to consumption of certain medicines.
